Halloween without the hassle

I Forgot About the Halloween Party

You forgot. The party is soon. You do not have time to become creative. Good. Creativity is no longer required.

The Fastest Answer

Give yourself ten minutes. Use clothes you already own. Add one obvious clue. Leave.

The 10-Minute Rescue

Minute 1–3: Open your closet. Look for all black, all white, a blazer, sportswear, pajamas, denim, a hat or anything unusually distinctive.

Minute 4–6: Pick the easiest recognizable idea that fits what you already have. Do not choose an idea that requires a shopping trip.

Minute 7–8: Add one thing only if you already have it nearby.

Minute 9: Look in the mirror. Would someone reasonably understand that this is intentional? If yes, stop.

Minute 10: Go.

Do Not Start Shopping

If the party starts soon, shopping can easily become the part that makes you late. Unless you already know exactly what you need and exactly where to get it, work with what you have.

Recognition Beats Accuracy

You are not entering a costume-design competition unless, unfortunately, you actually are. For an ordinary party, recognizable is enough.

The No-Explanation Test

If someone can roughly understand the idea at a glance, you have succeeded.

The Short Version

Ten minutes. Closet first. One clear idea. No shopping detour. Go to the party.
